Hi all,

For more info regarding the rest of the product within the range can be found in Laneige.com

What I think about their definition? Correct every word.

Laneige.com

I got this set and I must say I really enjoy using them. The product main goal is to give skin more moisture, which I think everyone need it. But on their website the some of the products in the range is for dry skin (Activator, Essence) while other for all skin type.

Here what I like:
the texture on each product, light yet 'juicy', simple, practical and so easy to absorb. My skin feels moist yet not oily at all. Refreshed therefor it seems lightened, make up stays on better because the skin is well prepared, and that luminous glow that I really like. I know that skin needs time to regain properties from products used but with Laneige Hydra Solution (especially for dry skin) the effect is immediate. Since Laneige is made for Asian skin, I find it suitable for daily use in a tropical land like Indonesia. Some of the product within the range also have anti-wrinkle and whitening property. The scent is delicate and feminine, the packaging is lovely and luxurious, I found no contest at all in their product.

Will I use it again? Definitely!
Recommend the product for my friends? Yup.

Mentholatum Acnes Creamy Wash

On the tube it is said:

Vit C & E
Moisturizing and help skin bright & silky
Remove excess sebum and dirt
Keep skin fresh and smooth
Daily facial wash for acne treatment

It also contain Isopropylmethylphenol that fights bacteria causing acne.

How to use:
Like a normal facial wash, put enough cream on your palm, mixed with water until it's foamy enough and apply the foam to your facial skin. The thick cream easily foamed up. So you'll pretty much get lather all over.

The scent is subtle and very delicate. It doesn't bother me at all. It clean my face really good, all the dirt and oils are washed away. Perfect to use in humid places like Jakarta where heat gives me all the sweat and dirt plus oiliness I can get. I'm blessed with a skin that acne free, but I have oily T-zone and sometime it bugs me a lot, so using Mentholatum Creamy Wash does helps me in terms of sebum and dirt removal.

My husband in the other hand have acne and oily skin, he like the product so much since according to him, it gives him smoother skin and less oily in longer period.

We didn't try the whole range since for us (especially me) this creamy wash alone have fights the oils really good.

Recommended: definitely, give it a go, from my experience you've got nothing to lose beside your oiliness.

You've Got To Start From Level One

In anything you do in this life it have to start from level one, it's like the beginning of everything. It's a beginning, a new start, it's a new experience, it's like Level One from Grand Indonesia.

Let see the 'definition' of Level One:

Launched at the beginning of June 2010, LEVEL ONE was established by Grand Indonesia Shopping Town (GIST) to become a pioneering breakthrough in both retail business and Indonesian fashion scene. The neighborhood consists of 22 shops that host 28 brands of various fashion and lifestyle products. Also included in LEVEL ONE are a café, a charity store that sells merchandises that once belonged to certain Indonesian celebrities, and a space in which various exhibitions and presentations can take place.

LEVEL ONE is inhabited by young Indonesian designers---of fashion, accessories, furniture, and photography---whose ideas are very promising but their creative enterprises are yet to mature and still on the lookout for bigger stages on which they can show what they have to offer. GIST answered this call and devoted time to review the prospective brands based on the strength of their concepts, visions, and designs and on how determined and ready they are to achieve their goals.

Set in an area that stretches as wide as 2,700 m² at East Mall level 1, LEVEL ONE has a shop dedicated for every participating brand. The shops’ façade is uniform, but their interiors are left entirely to each tenant’s creativity, thus providing them with an opportunity to construct a space in which their ideas, designs, and products could properly fit.

As LEVEL ONE is PT Grand Indonesia’s way of doing its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the company doesn’t stop at providing mere space for these designers, but also cooperate with them in every way possible to better promote and market their products and manage their businesses.

Ultimately LEVEL ONE is the youthful part of GIST that aspires to be a hip meeting point and melting pot of local creativity. It serves to nurture and facilitate the creativity and independence of young Indonesian talents. And most significantly, it is an inspiration for many young Indonesians to realize their creative capacity.

(Both above and below data from Level One Facebook Info)

Which stores included in Level One:
LEVEL ONE is: 16DS | Abacus | Alibi | Ciel | Cocomomo | Damn! I Love Indonesia | Danjyo Hiyoji | Deer | Eightshop | Foot Republic | Geulis | Happa by Mel Ahyar | Harrington Home | House of Jealouxy | Hunting Fields | Ichwan Thoha | Kaligula | Kamali & Lane | KLÉ | LOMOGRAPHY by Lomography Embassy Store | Magic Happens | Mimsy | Monday To Sunday | MYE | Naima | No'om and No'mi | Nur Zahra | Picnic | Plastic Culture | Rebel For A Cause | Robinet | Rock And Rose | Satcas | Saint And Sinner | Silla Home | Soe.Hoe | Tik Shirt | Tick Tock | Tosavica | Venom | Wondershoe

Impressive isn't it?! (Picture belong to Grand Indonesia website) Grand Indonesia is a high end mall that I believe one of the biggest and grandest mall in Jakarta. The combination of mall, hotel, private residence and office makes it a powerful place to be. In the mall itself, it have all the 5 star amenities and service such as nursery and disable toilet, stroller and wheelchair service for those who need. The mall itself have a fabulous layout and interior design, it's hard not to be proud and feel the awesomeness just to have Grand Indonesia in our country.

The richness of culture is drawn here and there, look at the details below.

These pictures are taken by my sister and her friends.

In various places inside Grand Indonesia.

Now they are adding a whole new value and gain more respect for dedicating Level One for what considered as 'young' Indonesian talent. Where other malls only put the benchmark on branded items from abroad, Grand Indonesia answer the call as being the Grands of Indonesia.

Done with the interlude? Let's go to Level One!

Scenes 'inside' Level One area.

It looks like there always something goin' on here in Level One.

Like on almost every store in Level One, they'll put the logo of Level One and the picture of the designer/s. Which is interesting and makes you feel closer to them when you understand or like their designs.

How about the atmosphere in Level One? It was lovely, dynamic, fun, colorful, and in the same time there's a sense of warmth and gratitude in the air, for a luxurious mall, I don't feel a distance, I feel the spirit of Indonesia that loves to gather around, greet each other and enjoying moments together. It's something that you usually feels when you're going back home to your big extended family. Where there's always something new happening but you feel like you are a part of them, and it's exciting.

I see many youngster here ^o^ and they have a great time with their friends. It's a perfect place to hang-outs, family to enjoy themselves, kids to have a new experience on 'local' creations, it's a new feeling where a taste of Indonesia is presented.

Picture from Damn!I love Indonesia, where batik goes beyond.

Don't get me wrong it's not just about Kebaya and Batik, you'll be surprise how creative they are, their inspirations come from many places and beyond sense of time. Yes, some of them inspired with the latest trend from the runway and the rest of the world, but you can be sure, the idea and/or creations was theirs and I can say I'm proud to bring guess from abroad to see what Level One can offer.

I love Tick Tock for their bold design, I was in awe looking at those big clock, makes me feel like I'm in a wonderland with those funny odd looking clock, and many tits and bits there to decorate your home with. It's just unique. Do you see the picture above? If you think that is out of the ordinary, wait until you see the rest of the store inside. You gotta check the gas station's clock!

I'm also enjoying myself at Abacus for their big colorful necklaces, shoes and many more. Do you know there are 6 designer in Abacus?! They sell shoes (Naima), (eight), bags (Cocomomobags), and many many more accessories from other designers.

Then TOSAVICA maiden for their minimalist, simple yet exquisite design, deer for being so pretty, and oh really, I can go on and on and on about Level One. They also have Lomography, which is so happening right now. You'll found your favorite in Level One I have no doubt about it. And on some occasion (that I'm really fond of), you can meet the designer or owner there, so for me it's more personal and it add another value.

So instead of looking at other talent, why not give these wonderful local 'artist' a chance. Do you know why those famous branded goods from Italy or U.S.A or Japan or wherever they are got really famous now? They are supported by their own people.

This is the calling for all of us Indonesian to support our 'young' talent and embrace this new beginning. Give them a chance and see what they got and what they can be someday. What are you waiting for, come to Level One at Grand Indonesia today and have a blast of fun... Indonesian style.

DO join Level One Facebook page, Twitter for Level One and Grand Indonesia, you won't want to missed a thing.

Softlense Oh Softlense

Hi all,

I've been wanting to have this post for a long time, finally after much considerations I did it now. There have been so many soft lenses out there I can't hardly keep up, so instead of going up and down through many brands and type I choose soft lenses and only from reputable companies. I don't do lenses from online shopping, cheapos, nor what-itz-called one.

My friend have use hard lenses too and it's just weird, I know some says they are more safe to use (I do not know the reason, can't anyone tell me?) but for me the adaptation takes too long and so many things to get them ready. So that's why I prefer Soft lenses.

For more than 10 years I've invested my money on soft lenses, yes, they don't grow, so it's pretty much a spending instead of investment. I've used permanent soft lenses that last a year (but never quiet a year, like around 9 months I've done with it for being uncomfortable, the risk of infection, endless sanitizing, removing proteins with tablets, aosepts, fresh saline, etc, it's just too much homework. So I went to monthly lenses from CIBA. But since I need soft lenses all day long like more than 12 hours a day, it didn't do a good job, around the 8th hour it started to dry up and I'm blur, really blur. So I've done with it.

Now from the picture above, there's all mine right now. I'm not a collector, I like to mix and match, for me it's not just a necessity, but I like things my own way, and it seems my eyes does to. And do you notice the Lomo on my pics, I'm using a new app on my iPhone and it's cool, so yes! All pictures here belongs to me. Ask permission before using them okie dokie.

First thing I'm going to discuss is 1 day Acuvue Moist that I recently bought. I'm not going to give you the spec, you can easily done that on their website, so this post is completely all about experience. It is very moist, like you are literally swimming, warning! It might took you a while to adjust, for me there some kind of mild feeling of looking through a fish eye lens (like on camera), yes something like that. But beside those awkward fish tank feeling the lenses itself is very comfortable. You wouldn't notice anything there. It is very moist I have to give you a tips during removing the lens, it is slippery and on some days, I found it difficult to take it out. Inserting in? For me is very easy and smooth.

Perfect for travelers that don't have time to continually putting on the moisture drops, in dry climate, busy, and just want some comfort and security that your eyes feels good for 12 hours....and more for me.

Acuvue 2, is a 2-weekly basis that is perfect for me. I like the lenses where it's not so slippery yet not dry like Acuvue Clear, it's not like having a fish eyes, I got my perfect vision there (how many times should I say perfect), no glare, no dryness, no sensitivity, and it stay for more than 10 hours. I use soft lenses like every single day, I hate glasses, I just do, they gives me a headache from the astigmatism, frames (come one, I can only see things inside that square), my nose is not on the right proportion for glasses, and I can continue for hours...so just skip it.

Fresh Look Handling Tint is perfect for beginner who doesn't know where is the inside and where is the outside...side of the lenses. Yes, it is different. You can see from the edge of the lenses. This monthly basis lenses is comfortable...for most people, but since I have bigger pupil or eye lens or whichever correct, the FL letters (that help beginners know which side it is) bothers me and give me a bit blur, I have to rotate it until it's in the perfect spot, but wherever it is (up down left right) it's still gives me a blur on that part. Also that's why I don't do color soft lenses. The cloudiness wont go away...ever.

My husband use this soft lenses and happy with them, I doesn't bother him at all, they are perfect for long wear more than 8 hours, doesn't dries his eyes, easy to use....after a while (adjustment period for beginners).

When I have money to splurge I go for Lasik.... heehee but before that I'll buy CIBA Dailies which I think is the best dailies for me. Simple, practical, easy to use, they stay moist and hygienic, no over the top feeling like fish eyes, suitable for more than 12 hours indoor or outdoors....so it's all just about the budget for this one.

Like most daily soft lenses the companies made it easy to open the casing, I know it's a waste of casing, but for our eyes it's is more hygienic. About that please always wash hands with proper soap before handling these lenses, eyes are very delicate and important, don't ever clean them in tap water or any other liquid beside those solutions that made for them. In hospital on daily basis patient come in for eye problem and cornea surgery, all because of contact lenses. So be diligent and cleanliness is highly encourages by me.

Acuvue Clear. It's really dry, I'm using it right now for 2 and a half hours and I feel miserable. If you are really on budget and probably have time to keep on using moisture drops and only for 5 hours maximum, then go ahead. But I warned you for the feeling of something thin inserted in between your eye and eyelid, yes, I can feel it and I'm not happy with it. This monthly basis soft lenses has rumored that in some advance country, it is not on the shelve anymore (they don't sell it there).

So that's just about it for now, tell me, what is your favorite soft lenses and why?

Choosing your magazine

I love beauty magazines, I spent hours on a daily basis just to read on each product details, newly launched, tips for skincare, etc. So to be able to do a review on a product as a tester is my kind of thing.

So when I'm in Singapore, I bought many beauty magazine as well and decided I want to be in a tester circle or be involved in anything regarding them. I've been a reader of Female magazine, Herworld, Cleo, Singapore Women's Weekly, Harper's Bazaar, Amica, and some more. But there's one particular experience I would like to share.

click on the image above to enlarge and read what they printed.

I was lucky enough to do a tester for products in some magazines until my 'tester review' on Herworld Oct 2010, and I'm dissapointed....they changed almost everything. Here's my real review:

- Kiehl's Pore Minimising Lotion (it moisturises and mattifies and is so lightweight, you can use it on top of makeup)

The lotion is too heavy for me, it feels oily and sticky, and perhaps it will be better to be used all in one range like cleanser, toner, and lotion in Khiel’s Pore Minimising Lotion products. I don’t think the product work well on me. (I used it after toner, all over my face)

- Shu Uemura PuRenovate pore perfecting lotion (a serum that you can reapply on your oily T-zone to keep away shine when skin gets oily)

It’s not really working for me either; the lotion itself is quite light but the t-zone is still oily. I put them on after toner and before moisturizing, and during re-apply for me also not comfortable and messed up. (I used it all over my face)

- Ettusais Aqua Splash (a spray with mattifying powder inside to sop up sebum. it replaces a blotter!)

I used it only when the oils on my face started to sprout, the sprayer is really handy but I can’t help it when it also sprayed my eyes and lips where it is not needed. It also leaves some white spots, to tackle it I tap my face with my hands right after spraying to reduce the white spots (but some still ended up on my fingers). It gives my skin a powdery feeling; it doesn’t affect my make up, so for me it can be used anytime I need a matte-effect. I think I’m going to use this one for my daily life since it help to reduce the appearance of oil (less shine and make up stay on longer). I used it on T-zone.

Urban Decay De Slick Spray (a makeup setting mist that controls oil and fixes makeup so it won't smudge),

For me even thou it is said can be used before the foundation I found it better to use after the make up is set. (unlike Ettusais) it doesn’t contain any powder or create a powdery feeling after being sprayed on. The sprayer spray a very wide area (until my hair and neck are sprayed from a 10-15 cm distance). After spraying it on my skin I do feel less oily and help the make up to set and stay on longer (2-3 hours longer compared to using none). And when the oils started kicking in again I just sprayed them on again. I used it overall on my facial skin.

- Vichy Normaderm Stick Concealer (a pimple and blemish concealer that is ideal for oily skin)

The concealer color is quite neutral so it pretty much blends on most of Asian skin. I like that the pen shape is simple and the tip of it is so small, so for me I can use it for the smallest blemish. It gives a bit of matte effect on the area applied; I can use it as a dot or smudge it over for wider area. The concealing effect last twice longer that other product that I used that not specifically for oily skin

-Maybelline Clear Smooth Shine Free Face Powder (a compact powder to get rid of oiliness)

I also use it as my facial powder since the neutral color match mine. Usually 2 hours using any other make up the oil on my T-zone are unavoidable, while using this the t-zone oiliness reduce (on the 2 hour mark) and double the timing of how long it last before retouch. So the area become oily after 4 hours of using, and I can easily touch up for my skin to be matte again. (first I apply it overall then for the touch up, only at t-zone)

I was wondered at that time. All the review are made 'good' by them whilst the fact some of the products doesn't work well or even at all on my skin when I already use them accordingly.

Does my journey with Herworld magazine begins there? No. I was a subscriber and I thought I made a right decisions but many glitz were found. I've notice that if you are a winner in one of their contest and perhaps you didn't read the following month that your name was come out as a winner, they might 'forget' to send you the prize. And you would not get your prize. It happen to me one time and almost, several time.

The person in charge for the prize to be delivered in some SPH magazine that I know, her initial is 'D'. I know her direct number since I've been calling her so many times. If you are an avid reader of Herworld, you probably know my name, I've been in Herworld Letters as their winning letters a year ago and at the same time my letter in the Q&A with Patrick about boots. Before this I've been in the winning letters too in other magazine. I know some magazine work differently, but none like Herworld or Female.

I've won something from another magazine by SPH too for sending a recipe and even after the magazine with my recipe is published and month after that I didn't hear a news how to collect the prize, and I kept calling this 'D' until I get mine. Yes, same 'D'.

So back to the Herworld thingy, I though this time, it took a while to for the prize to be collected, so I wait a while then a month later I've called and send emails, a month later many times, some of 'D' colleague who pick up my phone also wonders how come they haven't sent me the letter to collect my prize. Months pass and 'D' told me numerous time she has sent the letters out, she was busy, she will do it next week, she already did (again), she forgot, the sponsor haven't give Herworld the prize, she is out of the office for road show, the courier will come to my house on .... time ... (which wasn't), and other excuses, all of this until 4 months.

I called numerous time after that too since it was difficult to get on to 'D'. The phone either unanswered, busy, or she's out. And one time I spoke to another colleague of her's and I explained everything and she also confuse with the issue. She said she will try to see what's going on. It was a confusing time for me. I just want a clear answer. Is she too busy? forgot? the sponsor forgot? or what? Don't tell me that a courier is coming when it's not, or a letter is sent while it's not. I even call numerous time to the Singapore Post and they trailed the letter from SPH address to mine, which branch it go trough and where it could possibly left behind or fell. Singapore Post take their job seriously and they checked everything. Does 'D' really sent those letters on the numerous times she said it?

After more 4 months (I think it was the 5th going to 6th months), a courier finally really sent to me, one of the prize is changed, 'D' also added a perfume as an apology, and I still didn't get my answer. What happen to the last 4 months?

Is this experience just happen to me? I do not know but one thing for sure, Singapore Women's Weekly and Cleo never let me down. I've done a review for them and yes, they edited for clarity and so it fit on the page (not too long) but my opinion is stated truthfully there. I've also won some sms prizes, they sent me email a month or two after the magazine is published and collect the prize with no problem at all. It's really hassle-free.

Now it gives me a doubt everytime I read Herworld Singapore, is the review there real? Are the products presented there really do what it does? Where all the prizes go if the winner wasn't contacted or know they've won?

I know life is full of puzzle, one thing for sure for me, I would not choose a magazine that gives me more puzzles, I just need info. What is this post for? Just to share my personal experience, I do not hope it happen to you thou'.
