Ramadan Festival with The Body Shop

In Indonesia, one of the most anticipated time of the year is during Ramadan. It's when Moslem begin the month of fasting, embrace their closeness to God, family and with The Body Shop, to the nature as well.

Arrived at the event, The Body Shop Indonesia has prepared us to a unique and one of a kind event where everyone get to know about their program and festivity. There are 4 stations in total and I started my journey in the gift station.

Who doesn't like gifts?! And who doesn't like gifts from The Body Shop?! Beautifully wrapped to the occasion, filled with products that not just smell good but suitable for almost everyone. We can simply choose one for the men, one for the moms, one for the kids, one for those in love, one for beauty addicts and makeup lover, one for the home, and one for just about anyone. Everyone can find something they like from The Body Shop.

One thing about The Body Shop is that they always progressing, making and creating new ideas and bringing new items to the table. Their seasonal packaging also a delight, you could find one accordingly, like this Ramadan Festival, the decorations and design are a match.

In this station, we have a chance to win a goodies for someone that we thought would need or we just want to share some happiness with. I wrote one for my mom, after having 2 of my own and she has 4, I applaud her for being so patience and 'survived' haha! It is not easy definitely but she made it. I love her, I rarely say that to her, but she does amazed me sometime, and she deserved pampering. She has dedicated her time for her family, it is not an easy sacrifice, remember that no one is born to do a chore, it's ones willingness to do so. So please do give your mom a big hug and a huge appreciation.

The next station is the Makeup Station filled with their current focus, the eyeliners!! They comes in colorful shades and in duo packaging. One eyeliner with two ends. One in darker shade and the other in lighter, it is made to be used together or as your heart pleases.

I'm using the one in blue and white, instantly brightens my eyes and made them pop.

There are pencil highlighter for the eyebrows too, it helps accentuating and made the arch more define.

The best part about this station is we get to play our own or ask the BA to give us a hand. She is more than willing in giving tips and how to's.

Station number three is skincare!!! Hooray!! So happy to be here! I'm in my zone.

And aside from all the irresistible skincare and their lovely texture, these greenies are my favorite. The aroma is green and calming, suitable for all skin type including men too, light, watery and promote hydration and anti aging at the same time.

Bringing two new products on the table, the moisturizer and one item that seems to be the trend now. A liquid that is made to be used after the toner and before serum or even before pre serum.

Nowadays skincare has gotten more serious, seriously gooodddd. Say good bye to heavy rich and greasy texture, everyone is embracing light, watery and gel formula that satisfying to all skin type.

In each station we were given coins to collect and after that, the ones with the most coins will get prizes, wow! I'm keen to collect and the program itself is spot on. We get to learn, experiment and for once having a great time while embracing our nature. The Body Shop will never forget to make us see the difference we can make together. Either the Community Trade, charity programs to the daily commitment. Once again, in this event, we ought to write down things that we want to do for the environment.

I wrote some of the visible things I can do, from reduce waste/trash, use less plastic, use ingredients or material that doesn't do harm to the environment and be more friendlier to just about anyone. Hopes that cools down the temperature >.<.

Why 'Sedekah Pohon'? In this occasion, The Body Shop Indonesia wishes to grow more trees in as the natural barrier of our island. Jakarta itself sunk 0,5 cm each year and in the future, we are no longer under the seasonal flooding but we will be going here and there using a boat. It is pretty in Venice and Amsterdam, but are we ready to spend tax money to keep the island float? Or we can start now by planting more mangrove.

After finish collecting the coins and gave mine to be counted. We are moved to this beautiful room. It's like one of those scene in a Arabic movie where the princesses lives. Luxurious, cultural, and most of all beautiful filled with meanings.

Three ladies come in as a part of a fashion show and each of them share a different look to celebrate Ramadan.

Monochromatic Eye, Bold Smokey Eye and Egyptian Winged Eye.

A rich creamy formula seems thick at first but it does melts on the skin, suitable for skin that needs attention due to the aging. The feeling on the skin is comfortable and pleasing, it doesn't gives the skin an oily nor greasy residue, or perhaps my husband is in the right 'age zone' and skin type with the formula.

He is using it after the toner, also from Kiehl's, the calendula toner. It helps prep the skin before moisturizer. On some days he add serums and on some he doesn't. For him the moisturizer is compatible enough with any other skin care I gave he have.

The moisturizer add that lifting and firming sensation that he likes. His skin also appears better as in hydrated, firmer and appears younger gradually.

With just the look of it, these orange products must be refreshing and it does. My husband has been using them for a month now and he loves them. The cleanser cleanse the skin without creating an overly dry skin, so it does gives his skin a clean feeling and cool sensation but not drying. The details pretty much sums up and explain everything that my husband actually feels on his skin. But I don't see it, perhaps it is more to the effect felt on the skin than seen. It does appear non greasy and non sticky (these facts alone would be magnet for men, no one wants a greasy and sticky moisturizer for sure), and comfortable. He usually have some complains on any other product, from the smell, texture, how it feel on the skin, after effect, unwanted result and many more, but with L'Oreal Paris Moisturizing Fluid from the Hydra Energetic series, he seems really happy and have no complains.

The cream itself is like an arctic ice in a sea (blue pot), looks cool and refreshing.  And when it touches the skin, it does, the smell is a bit like peppermint too. This is one of hubby's favorite, he's been using it through summer and winter, short to overnight flight. He highly recommend the product for the moisturizing effect on the skin without oily feeling, the hydrating power stands against many tough condition and the gel like cream also comfortable all day long.

He uses the moisturizer daily with or without serum and his skin become moist every day without fail.

Psst! The coolness effect also last a few minutes up to 15-30 minutes on the skin.

A product for top to toe usage, hair, face, body, all in one. When I read about the details the product seems to be quite strong in terms of function and scents, menthol, citrus, with refreshing and tingling experience, yet in reality, it is so mild and gentle with a slight menthol sensation. I couldn't feel the exact tingling sensation as said. But I do adore the gentleness it brings, the hair and skin (I do not use it as a facial wash) feels so soft and fresh. My husband said that the product is much too mild to him.

It doesn't lather as much as other similar products with sls (duh!) so perhaps he doesn't feel that squeaky clean like our floors are. For me that's a good thing since our skin is NOT the same as the surface we step on daily.

So overall, it is a great top to toe cleanser for those who love the softness and cleanliness without the drying effect. Leave it on the skin or scalp longer and the menthol effect will be more obvious.

As always, the one that become my rabbit is my hubby. He opt for this product since he needs moisturizer that feels fresh on the skin and reduce the oil. He doesn't have an overwhelming oily skin, for me I think he is still in the normal to oily zone.

So, he starts using it immediately after receiving, he cleansed and toned. After his regular serum he puts the moisturizer on. At first, he was happy with the gel like texture. It is light and fresh, on the skin, it felt light too. But after a while, he felt a tingling and then itchy sensation. Then, some redness appears, I guess he is either sensitive to one or some ingredients inside the product or it is just too drying for him.

Sad to say, he wont be able to help me with further review on the product, perhaps it is for those who have a oily to very oily skin type only.

Psst!!Will try to find someone with that really oily skin to help me reviewing this particular item ^__^

Where do I even begin to praise it? From the calming properties or to the ability for shaving wise and cleansing while keeping the skin happy, invigorating, energized yet far from irritation and other kind of discomfort a shave could do. And beyond that a clean finish as well as it get the title of Multi-Gel which is multifunction. A self foaming gel that gives anyone a great start for the day.

I'm for sure a sucker in term of foaming the cleanser correctly, and so does my husband. He is a man for sure and plumping up a cleansing foam to a perfect density is NOT on his to do list. It's not that important for him, yet the skin still need that foam to begin with. This is where I start praising the gel, oh yes, the prelude above is nothing :D

From the moment I pump it on, a blue clear gel comes out and immediately transform itself into this super fluffy foam ready for action. I use it to shave and for cleansing my face just like he does. I'm not going to let him have all the fun, I want some too. I love the scent and sensation as much as he does and for once (in a while) we both agree on something, we both love this product and will continually use it as a gel for shaving but most of all for cleaning the face. Since the result is a clean skin from daily debris without striping the skin dry, in fact, the skin become so soft and like I said before happy, super happy!

A must try and must have product in every household. Kiehl's put it in the men's zone, I put it in unisex.

Belif Men Manology 101,Facial Cleansing Foam, Alcohol Free Toner, Essential Moisturizer.

as a continuation from my previous post on Manology 101 from Belif (HERE), now it's the series for the face.

Facial Cleansing Foam, Alcohol Free Toner (hooray), and Essential Moisturizer. A simple 3 step skincare regime for the men to look good with healthy skin all over.

My husband skin type is rather oily, dehydrated, with lines and wrinkles plus acne prone too.

Let's start the routine with the first step, cleansing.

As like all belif products, everything is written in the packaging, no mineral oil, no synthetic fragrances, no synthetic preservatives, no sodium lauryl sulfate, etc. So inside there are natural origin ingredients beneficial for the skin.

This is the cleanser, thick, creamy, kinda like a dense foam and like mentioned in the image, smells really good. Like a fresh citrus, berry and some other herbs.

The cleansing foam lather up easily and cleans daily debris such as sweats, grease, dirt and sebum too. I enjoy the aroma very much and so does my husband. Yes, I did try it too. And when rinsed there's this squeakiness, but after dried the squeakiness is gone, the skin left with soft and smooth sailing clean feeling.

Hubby said:

The cleansing foam lathers easily and give the skin a clean effect without drying. Nice smell too!

Note for ladies, the cleanser doesn't clean makeup.

Then followed by the toner.

An alcohol-free toner for men’s skin that is exposed to frequent shaving and various external factors. Readily absorbed and gently soothes and moisturizes sensitive skin after cleansing or shaving. Formulated with Marrubium to calm sensitive skin, and Apple Mint for its powerful anti-blemish properties to protect men’s trouble-prone oily skin.

After cleansing or shaving, put a suitable amount on the palm and gently pat the face until absorbed. If preferred, moisten a cotton pad and glide over face in an outward motion.

With Marrubium, sebum control herb complex, Napiers Original formula. Apparently this product understand that most men are looking for a sebum control in their toner, I know for sure my husband, brothers and dad enjoy this toner for it's sebum control properties without drying the skin off it's moisture.

The texture is almost like water and felt like water too. This is comforting for men's skin, especially knowing that a lot of men's product out there do consist of alcohol, from the very high level til the mildly available. So belif alcohol free toner is a refreshing choice for the men.

My hubby said: The toner felt like water, are you sure this is a toner?
Me: Yes
Hubby: Okay, it's good then, there's no sting effect or sharpness like other toner which have alcohol in it. But how come there's zero scent?
Me: There is, it's mild, but I can smell there's a faint scent. Very faint indeed.
Hubby: So there's no scent?
Me: Err.....Kinda. So, how's the effect on the skin?
Hubby: It's good, it made the sebum less productive.

Continued by Essential Moisturizer

Another alcohol free product which is so light and juicy at the same time. I can feel the hydrating effect instantly without being too much.

Hubby: Wow, the product is very hydrating but not oily at all. The scent also fresh and not bothering.

Me: Not bothering?

Hubby: Yes, I dislike an overly fragrance product. This one is okay.

Me: Good then \^0^/

Overall, the Essential Moisturizer gives the skin the basic need of hydration without the grease. On the skin the moisturizer feels light, cooling and refreshing at the same time. Leaving the skin plumped and moist too. Rated 'good' from my husband means it's really good, as normally he complains a lot and rarely praise, so when belif's Manology 101 get his stamp, it means they are recommended ^__^

Bottom line, all three products here are recommended for being so light and providing the basic need's of men's skin without being too much or leave any unnecessary leftovers. Smells freshly good and it seems like all three of them got the right texture, lightness yet fulfilling in the same time.

Must try! Let your man have it and show him by these 3 simple steps, his skincare need's are suffice. No more dry itchy irritated skin, say hello to healthy elastic skin and comfort all the way.

these are very special items which I'm blessed to try them on my self and my husband's as well. Yes, the variant here given are actually for men, from Belif Cosmetics called Manology 101.

There are a total of 5 items specially made for men. 2 for the body, 3 for the face. In this opportunity I would like to share the products for the body.

First of all, I'm so happy and glad finally there's products for men in the market without being too harsh nor 'too much'. Locally, men are considered so 'dirty', oily, dandruff-y (hair), dull and need whitening products, seriously, I went to many places (local supermarkets/store) for over the counter products and some luxury brands, most of them sells items for body odors, over sweats, greasy, oily and dull skinned man. My man is NOT in those category. He is considered as a well-groomed person who longed for a simple products fits to his needs without being too much.

Gladly, he found belif Manology 101. Hooray!

On the bottle it is written there's mallow, soapberry, sweet flag, Napiers original formula that I seriously doesn't have a clue of what it is, but I can tell you for sure how wonderful they smell and effect on the skin. Let's do a He says (hubby) and She says (me) shall we?!

Regarding the thick white creamy texture:

He: It's okay, nothing to complain.

She: I love how rich it felt and on the skin, the creamy gel glide effortlessly. Luxurious all over and feels pampering.

The scent:

He: Refreshing and smells really good. It's a nice option compared to most products for men out there. Is there a ginger in it?
She: It's a mix between something citrus and something warm like ginger. The product smells really energizing, like it said in the packaging. Sniffing it makes me feels like I'm in a spa.

The Bubbling Action:

He: There's a lot of bubbles, nice!
She: I love how easy they lathered up and the soft bubbling action makes me use less than other body wash. And every pop! There's goes the scent happily flying in the air. The whole bathroom smells good.....yes, I'm a big fan of the scent.

When using it:

He: It seems like they do the job well, cleaning the skin and not so slippery but I can feel the lathers clean the skin well, with a slight warming sensation on the skin.
She: I feel like I'm pampered. The lathers is rich, fluffy and using a sponge would definitely add more bubbles and foam making it more fun and energizing as it lifts up my mood. A definite mood booster.
When rinsing and after effect:

He: Easily rinse and doesn't leave the skin feeling squeaky dry nor slippery. So I'm good to go as it seems like the product gives the skin a good cleansing action, smells good (without being girlie or smells like flowers) and the skin which sometime itch due to other soaps, feels not itchy at all. The skin which usually easily irritated looks calm and fresh. I like the combination of feeling clean without overly stripe off the moisture. I will definitely keep using the product and recommend it to my fellow mates.

She: Oohhh, this is really good. I know for sure there are a lot of soaps and body cleanser out there that striping off the moisture from the skin, so the skin feels like floor and irritated. Energizing Body Wash from belif is far from that. It is superbly wonderful. After rinsing, I can immediately feel the skin being energized, cleaned, yet still hydrated and moist. I love the lasting warmth sensation, not hot, but warm. I know this product is for men, but I'll sneak in once in a while and enjoy it as well. For me it's irresistible.

After the invigorating shower experience, we'll move on to the emulsion.

Yup, in this case, emulsion is a mixed between 2 liquids which usually un-mix-able. Something from the water family and something from the oil family.

He: The anti-sticky emulsion is a fresh and unique option from the usually so oily/greasy lotion or worse those lotion for whitening which sometime irritates the skin. The smell is somewhat like the Body Wash, so I'm a fan alright and doesn't leave any residue on the skin, like instantly absorbed. For dry skin I need another lotion to top it off especially when used to the slippery feeling of normal lotion.
She: I love it. I'm so bored with conventional lotions nowadays and Jakarta is just getting hotter and hotter. Normal lotion will make my skin feels like difficult to breath (sometime) and when sweating, it will be like grease and yucky. The emulsion is perfect for the body as it was so light yet the nutrients needed by the skin is provided to stay looking healthy and plump without being too much. Like the proportion is done just right. I bet they did use a measuring glass in creating this perfect concoction.

But, frankly speaking, even thou I can use all of the body care from Manology 101 (and loving them), I do longed for products for my gender, and yup, belif does carry on for me (female) too. Hopefully soon I can try all of them and give you some review as well.
