Revitalizing Shampoo for Men by L'Oreal Professionnel Homme

Men, men, men, aren't you sick of women's toiletries? Aren't you tired of the sweet floral scents for your hair and feels not man enough to own a product made just for you? L'Oreal Professionnel heard you and there it is, L'Oreal Professionnel Homme is born.

Made with 'tough' ingredients to help fight those nasty pollutions, the shampoo is suitable for men that have to get through daily struggle out there and still smells like men. Tingling by the cooling sensation and there you go, a revitalizing shampoo for normal hair with antioxidant polyphenols.

My husband uses it and here is his review: He like the scent (woopie ^__^) which is freshly men (clueless with these words but I just go along), it doesn't lather much compared with other shampoo he uses before. He really like the refreshing sensation and again manly scent. He didn't need conditioner after using this shampoo (hubby:"I have short hair") and the shampoo aren't drying either. Overall he likes it (Oh my! It's just so difficult to get a word out of him), he says it is a good product and he will use it again.

My say: He seems happy with the product since he rarely compliment anything, the fact that he is saying he will use it again and like the scent really put a big point for the scent and last but not least, fresh feeling too.

Lack of words: He's just annoyed that I keep asking for more details -____-'  ah men!

Perfumer’s Inspiration
Q&A with Red Door Master Perfumer Carlos Benaim of
International Flavors & Fragrances

The Red Door is an iconic beauty symbol.  How did you go about creating a fragrance that would capture this?
When I created Red Door, I knew it was a very special moment for Elizabeth Arden.  I had to be on par with that expectation.  At the time, I was working on a luxurious floral accord, a rich bouquet of the highest quality red rose, orange flower and ylang ylang, which became the starting point of the fragrance.

In 1989, did you know you were creating a truly classic fragrance?
I did not know I was creating a classic fragrance, but the rich floral bouquet was resonating with women; I knew I had something special.

What makes a classic fragrance?
When a woman is excited about wearing a fragrance and always has the desire to go back to it; it’s about the “love” factor.

What attracted you to this project?
Elizabeth Arden is a prestigious brand, a brand with a strong heritage and cachet.  It was exactly the time when Elizabeth Arden wanted to tell its story in a new way, with the Red Door fragrance.

What was your inspiration? How did you start the process of creating this fragrance?
I started with the floral bouquet of red rose, orange flower and ylang ylang.  I then brought in more sensuality with a combination of honey and oakmoss.

How did you choose the notes?
I chose ingredients of the highest quality, aesthetics and beauty.

What are the elements that make Red Door a fragrance classic, even more than 20 years later?
All must be in harmony, including magically evocative notes that come together and tell a story.

If you were to describe this fragrance in one word or phrase, what would you say it represents?
A bold statement of pure luxury.

The Fragrance Notes
Top Notes:

Lily of the Valley
Lily of the Valley is one of the earliest flowers of Spring.  Very delicate and small in size, it spreads a very diffusive fresh, floral green scent, greeting the first warmth of the season.

Freesia
Native to the Cape Province of South Africa, Freesia has a bright floral fragrance evoking jasmine or orange blossom, with sweet, almost fruity accents.

Wild Violets
This small, heart-shaped leaf envelopes the top notes in silken, amethyst scent… creating a fresh, sumptuous ribbon of femininity and allure.

Mid Notes:

Red Rose
A prominent symbol of spirituality, divine perfection and beauty… the rose is a precious symbol throughout the East and West.  Its unmistakable scent is luxurious and full; both spicy and green, the rose brings a velvety richness and volume to the fragrance.

Moroccan Orange Flower
Exquisite and sunny, heady yet delicate, this bright airy floral exhales its luxurious aura to impart a romantic touch into the heart of the fragrance.

Ylang Ylang
Translated as "flower of the flowers," the yellow, star-shaped flower from Indonesia is highly fragrant, while the jasmine-like scent is rich and bright with a slight neroli undertone.

Jasmine
This small, delicate flower only blooms at night, revealing its exotic, sensual scent in the early morning hours just before dawn.  The luminous flower is then harvested in small quantities and immediately extracted on site.  Jasmine adds an uplifting, fruity-floral scent to the heart of the fragrance.

Base Notes:

Oakmoss
Found throughout the mountains of North America and Central Europe, this moss is woody and dry with layered dimensions of damp earth and green foliage.

Honey
Legend has it that Cupid dipped his love arrows in honey before aiming at unsuspecting lovers.  This once sacred, fragrant ingredient is now widely favored for its succulent, sweet and golden taste.

Sandalwood
Sandalwood has been highly valued throughout the Pacific and Eastern Indian Ocean cultures for at least 2,000 years.  The highly aromatic wood imparts a soft, buttery and creamy scent to the skin.

Perfumer’s Biography

Carlos Benaim is considered one of the living legends of modern perfumery and his list of wins reads like a fragrance hall of fame.  Yet Benaim never intended to be a perfumer – not even when he came to IFF Paris in November 1967.

Accepted into IFF’s European management training program, Benaim was sent to the Paris office to learn more about fragrance production.  While compounding fragrances, his gift for perfumery was recognized and he trained with some of the greats of the industry, Ernest Shiftan and Bernard Chant.

His stint in Paris not only uncovered his talent, it reminded him of his earlier interest in the field.  Benaim’s father was a pharmacist who distilled plants and flowers as a hobby.  Over many years, the hobby evolved into business.  Years later, a summer job with a chemist in Grasse allowed him time to learn about the raw materials of perfumery.  This experience resonated with his past and helped determine his future.

Benaim is often inspired by the many parts of the world in which he’s lived, but he feels anything can be a source of a great idea — a color, a flower or even a memory.  He has been involved in the development of many fragrances, often in collaboration with other IFF perfumers.

Born and raised in Tangiers, Morocco, Benaim was trained as an engineer at the Ingenieur de l’Ecole Nationale Superieure de Chimie in Toulouse, France.  Outside of perfumery, he enjoys drawing, art, reading about foreign affairs and studying Sephardic history.  He and his wife have three sons and live in New York City and Bedford, New York.

Sneak peek, this is a lovely preview isn't it? Love it! I always been a fan of Elizabeth Arden's Red Door since junior high, I know! It's like so long time ago and most girls are flinging with sweet floral fruity scent while I am wearing something as sophisticated as Red Door, and I'm proud of it ^___^

After more than 15 years, I still in love with the scent and one of my fave of all time. The scent is showing a woman with all her gorgeousness. A bit sweet and a whole lot of flowers where it define a true lady that last forever. One of the classic that I think is a must have item.

I'm Cleaning My Makeup Brush - Tips Included & How's To

Today I decided to clean my brush, which means it's something I'm not routinely do (I know I should), but since I really love this brush I just don't want to ruin it. Numerous times with my previous brushes I made them rough and I need them soft. This brush from The Body Shop is one of my favorite and I want to treat it well, and this is some of my tips to keep it in tip top shape and condition.

Using the cleanser products at my home, means I'm not using any brush cleanser that commercially existed. So, pretty much is the stuff you can easily find anywhere.

I've tried using baby's shampoo as many other recommend but during the cleansing process (warm water mixed with baby's shampoo) there's a lot of gunk stick at the brush and it can not dissolve in the water since perhaps I use a lot of base, foundation, powder, and 2 way cake collide together in the brush.

Using a dishwasher liquid will help the gunk to be removed but based on experience it will dry out my brush, leaving it worst than a bad hair day.

It's just doesn't work. So I'm thinking I should just try using makeup remover and the first thing come in my mind is a cleansing oil.

I pump 2-3 times and mixed it with warm water. Oh yes, I do use a small cup and mix it all up with my brush. Gently stir everything up. Careful! Wet brush are so easy to took off and never pull them nor soak the brush all the way till the root. The glue wont last.

For the cleansing oil, I use my Skin Inc Trinity Cleansing Oil. And I was right, the oils dissolves all the gunk out of my brush and my brush still feels soft.  But now there's a oily feeling left on the brush. I use my facial foam.

Pump the foam and the small particles of the foam was able to go inside the brushes, splendid! No more oily feeling and the brush still soft since I'm using a product for facial use. But still, before the final rinse I use the baby's soap to help me clean up everything behind. I keep using warm water all the way until the end. And keep changing the water all throughout the cleansing process, each product took around 2-3 rinsing process.

Each cleansing product that I used manage to clean different particles and makeup residue. So, for me one brush need more that one cleanser, since I use my brush for almost everything in the base.

Then, just place the brush on a paper towel and I'm not placing mine in a direct extreme sunlight, more like the sun from my window. Keep changing the paper towel when it's wet helps the part that's below to be dried faster. For me this position is the best one to dry the brush, standing up/upside down will make the brush messy and sometime just ruin it.

Keep rolling the position occasionally, so your brush wont slanted.

Again, be gentle and be patient, don't clean your brush on the day you want to use it, it takes hours for the brush to be completely dry, hair drier might help but never overheat.

Last but not least, clean their home too. Using a normal anti bacterial wipes and swipe everything off, simple yet necessary.

Hope it work well on you too ^__^

Boi-ing Industrial Strength Concealer by Benefit

Details from Benefitcosmetics.com on why do they love the product:

This industrial-strength concealer camouflages dark circles, shadows and discoloration for a seamless, natural-looking finish without creasing or fading. You name it, boi-ing helps hide it! Available in three shades...when in doubt, choose boi-ing 02 - medium.

How to use it:

With fingertip, dab boi-ing on the darkest areas you want to target...underneath each eye, at the inner corners by the bridge of your nose, or over any other flaws. Pat gently outward to blend

Their tips:

Pat concealer between your thumb and fingertip to warm it up...it will glide on more seamlessly.

And I got no.2  . . . but it does seems too dark for my skin, maybe I should use no.1. Nevertheless here is my review. The texture is thick alright and I need to learn how to use it. I think a brush can help me out for the application-wise. Regardless since the tips is involving finger tips I don't think it would be a problem using your hands.

There is no scent and it's just a plain concealer . . . I think.

Here is my hand, there's a dark brown spot there, and this is the far most extreme concealing, but I just want you (my beloved readers) to see the before and after application in the darkest spot ^___^.

It does help the coverage by by 70%, I use it on my acne and it does give the acne a red-less look but the bump is still there. For under eyes, I suggest using your ring finger and gently dab it but again like on this dark brown spot the coverage is not 100%. Depends on the severity of your condition, so for dark eye circle, depends on the darkness level. For covering large pores, it work really well on me and so far those are the reason for me to use it, hmm maybe some fine lines too. I like the fact that the product is light and looks soft on the skin, giving me a much more smoother look.

Benefit Lust Duster in Nugget and Cloud 9

Product Details:
These powders are very pigmented, silky and lustrous. All three are finely milled and very shimmery but not glittery. Goldilocks is a shimmery yellow gold; Nugget is a beige champagne; and Snow Bunny is a shimmery metallic white

These powder is so light and you might want to watch out a bit not to sneeze, inhale, or blow them away. I got 2 of them which is Nugget in soft brown cream color and Cloud 9 which is pinkish and delicate.

With a brush (preferably using fan brush, domed brush or blushed brush) I can apply the powder on my face after the base is done (bb-foundation-concealer-powder, etc) for a more luminous brighter look with either pinkish look (cloud 9) or just come with a sparks (nugget). I find the duster are handy too making my skin looks more radiant when used on top of everything. It emphasize the side you want to get more attention on, like maybe cheek bones, decollete, nose, etc.

I find them lovely as loose powder too, but thanks to the hot and humidity I like them better at night when the temp is cooler. I think my facial skin is shimmering enough at day time ^__^
