What is ozone?
Ozone (O3) is
formed by reactions to nitrogen oxide and volatile organic compounds in the
presence of sunlight. The organic
compounds are emitted due to human activities such as motor vehicle exhaust,
industrial emissions, gasoline vapors and chemical solvents. Hot weather and sunlight accelerate this
formation process, lending ozone the nickname of a “summertime air pollutant.”
2.
Where
is ozone most prominent?
Ozone is everywhere, however
levels do vary across the globe. While
ozone helps protect us from the sun’s harmful UV rays when in the stratosphere,
when it is on ground level it can reach toxic concentrations and be harmful to
skin. Typically, heavy industrial areas
or urban zones have higher ground-level ozone than rural areas, though winds
can carry ozone pollutants hundreds of miles away from its original source.

We
have known about ozone for years. Why is it particularly important today?
Ozone is a growing worldwide environmental problem. For example, the standard level set by the
United States Environmental Protection Agency is currently at 0.075 parts per
million (ppm) averaged over eight hours.
However, ozone can reach toxic concentrations of even 0.8 ppm,
especially in the summer and in some urban environments. Studies for urban temperatures over the next
70 years project that temperatures could increase above current levels, which
could lead to an even more serious increase of ozone pollution[1]. Given that much of the population is living
in urban areas, there is a clear need to address the visible impact that ground-level
ozone and pollution can have on the look of skin.

What
effect can exposure to ozone have on the skin?
Ozone
has a profound negative effect on our skin cells and can increase free
radicals, DNA damage and inflammation.
This can lead to visible signs of premature aging such as fine lines,
wrinkles, puffiness, dark circles, dryness and uneven skintone. Additionally, skin around the eye area is 40%
thinner than skin on the rest of the face, which makes it particularly
vulnerable to the environmental assaults that cause DNA damage. To understand
what this means, we pioneered an Eye Physiology Study and found that the
thinness of the eye area skin makes it five times more porous than skin on the
rest of the face[2]. The unique physiology of the eye area skin is
so thin and porous that it allows many everyday assaults, such as ozone, to
easily pass through. Inspired by these
findings, we developed new Advanced
Night Repair Eye Serum Infusion which has a serum texture that allows for
fast penetration of surface layers of the skin.

Can
you explain the O3 Chamber in detail?
The O3 Chamber is a
cutting-edge new testing methodology that was developed in collaboration with a
university. The chamber features
different compartments that can be calibrated at any controlled levels of ozone
to mimic ozone levels that have been measured in major cities around the
world. We studied skin cells exposed to
both medium and high ozone levels for a time period of only twenty minutes (which
is equivalent to a walk outside in some major cities worldwide), saw a 165%
increase of DNA damage to skin cells exposed to moderate ozone levels (0.4 ppm)
and an increase of 272% after exposure to high levels of ozone (0.7 - 0.8 ppm). However, when we added the key patented
repair technology in Advanced Night
Repair Eye Serum Infusion to skin cells, in vitro testing showed it helped to
inhibit up to 100% of damage induced by ozone after two hours[3].

Yes, I was thinking all of these while decorating the glasses. Most of the time, we are to busy 'decorating' our skin with makeup that we forgot to 'fix' what lies underneath.

These flowers looks so pretty and they didn't dressed up at all, the hydration keeps them plumped and alive. The nutrients may also need to be provided so the flowers may grow beautifully.
